Black Lake Is Located In Michigan’s Cheboygan and Presque Isle Counties and Is Over 10,000 Acres In Size. The lake is noted for it’s great recreational all sports use for water skiing, sailing, boating, fishing and scuba diving. The lake is approximately 3.7 miles wide and just over 6 miles in length. The Black River flows in and out of the lake and the Onaway State Park is located on the south shore which offers a boats launch. Other creeks that flow into the lake include Rainy River, Cold Creek, Fisher Creek, Crains Creek and Mud Creek. The water depths range from 5 feet near shore to 45 to 50 feet in the middle areas. The lake bottom has differing materials of sand, gravel, marl and deep organic.
The waters of Black Lake offer a great fishery with the following species; walleye, yellow perch, small and large mouth bass, muskellunge, northern pike, rock bass, lake sturgeon, sunfish, cisco, brook trout, and sucker.
